Deux très belles session chez KEXP cette semaine :
La startup n’a rien d’une subversion des logiques du capitalisme. Au contraire, elle incarne sa réalisation la plus aboutie
Documents and whatnot are all mechanisms for communicating between humans—a communication that is always lossy, because creating a shared understanding between people is, and always will be, one of the hardest things we’ll ever do. Workslop dramatically increases that lossiness, with what we mean to say drifting further and further away from us, mediated through machines that smooth out the tone and blur the intent until we are saying nothing at all. This is perhaps the point: the less we are able to communicate with each other, the less power we have to negotiate the conditions of our work.
“AI” exists to disenfranchise labor. That’s what it’s for. Regardless of how good these stochastic systems are or the flaws they have just being able to point at the non-unionized robot whenever the employees ask for raises or anything really is incredibly valuable for business. The existence of “AI” and the supporting narrative mean that you defending your value and therefore price on the market will have a way harder time.
“Helpless” takes the lie that power structures are in place to protect you, holds it up to the sunlight, and watches it turn to dust.
